Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Manager to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining laboratory facilities, ensuring the quality of research and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and supporting commercialisation and administrative activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in life or health sciences, and experience in recombinant DNA technology, molecular biology, cell biology and molecular physiology techniques.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent planning, organisational and management skills, with the ability to focus on and produce results and prioritise objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain laboratory facilities to ensure world-class standards and cost-effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and all policies and regulations relating to operating environments
  • Provide training for students and staff members on specialised equipment or complex techniques
  • Facilitate research and integration of teaching and research by organising laboratory placements of students
  • Oversee scientific data management and intellectual property protection
  • Maintain laboratory equipment to required standards and specifications
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement of supplies
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in life or health sciences
  • Experience in recombinant DNA technology, molecular biology, cell biology and molecular physiology techniques
  • Strong planning, organisational and management skills
  • Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication style
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions
  • Part-time (0.7 FTE)
  • Specified purpose contract up to 6 months
