Job Description:

Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our team in the ENT department.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for providing specialist speech and language therapy services to patients attending the ENT and voice service, with a focus on developing and implementing innovative approaches to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and information regarding the communication and swallowing ability of individuals, ensuring full client and family involvement.
  • Manage and run the SLT led parallel clinic in ENT in conjunction with relevant ENT consultants and the SLT manager.
  • Develop the skills required to provide a specialist innovative service and advance SLT practice in the area as appropriate.
  • Develop the SLT led parallel clinic in accordance with the model of care to provide a high quality service to patients and assist in reducing ENT consultant waiting lists.
  • Manage an outpatient Voice and/or ENT outpatient caseload for those patients who require specific intervention in an acute care setting.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Statutory registration as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.

• 5 years full time (or equivalent) years post qualification clinical experience of which 4 years full time (or equivalent) must be consecutive in the required area of specialism.

• Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in the specialism and evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism.

• Achievements in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.

• Professional Development and Practice: candidates must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.
