Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SHO/Registrar in General Adult Psychiatry to join our multidisciplinary team. As a SHO/Registrar, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to adult patients with mental health disorders across community settings.

Your primary objective will be to assess, diagnose, and manage service users while developing advanced clinical and professional skills. You will work closely with the assessment, diagnosis, and management of service users, contributing to the development of individualized care plans.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in general adult psychiatry, with a minimum of 24 months of post-internship clinical experience. You will be required to participate in the on-call rota for General Adult Psychiatry, covering inpatients, emergency referrals, and liaison psychiatry.

You will also be expected to contribute to care planning and case management in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), conduct regular ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and community follow-up clinics under consultant supervision. Additionally, you will liaise with primary care teams, emergency services, and voluntary/community organisations involved in mental health support.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full registration in place with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
  • A minimum of 24 months of post-internship clinical experience in Psychiatry.
  • Able to take up the appointment by a specified date (must have a critical skills employment permit in place or permission to live and work in Ireland).
