Senior Mental Health Specialist

Job Overview:
The Irish Prison Service in Dublin is seeking a Senior Psychologist to fill a locum position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing assessments, formulating individual plans, and providing evidence-based psychological interventions.
Main Responsibilities:- Complete comprehensive assessments and formulate individual plans for individuals referred to the psychology service.
- Develop behavior monitoring procedures for each individual and provide a significant specialist contribution to multi-disciplinary care and management planning.
- Engage in and supervise evidence-based psychological interventions as recommended in the care and management plan.
Key responsibilities include working with individuals who have been referred to the IPS Psychology Service due to mental health difficulties or offence-specific needs. Interventions may include group and one-on-one therapy sessions.
The successful candidate will have regular contact with community agencies involved in supporting and resettling people leaving custody, as well as families and carers of those in custody.
Requirements:- Graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI or Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
- A minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience as a Psychologist.
Desirable requirements include experience in addressing emotional, mental health, and offence-related difficulties with a forensic population, as well as experience in providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
