Operate Heavy Machinery Safely

The role of 360 Machine Operator at a leading resource recovery business involves the loading and unloading of containers and curtain siders, recycling sorting, conducting machine checks, and using plant machinery such as a forklift, loading shovel or 360 excavator as appropriate, with a focus on good site housekeeping.

This position requires a high level of operational competence in heavy machinery handling, strong understanding of health safety and environmental compliance, effective communication and teamwork abilities, ability to work flexibly and take on additional non-machine tasks when required, and attention to detail in inspections, reporting and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate mobile plant as directed by the site manager
  • Operate a 360 material rehandler (tracked or wheeled) to a good standard
  • Operate a loading shovel or wheeled front loader to a good standard
  • Inspect mobile plant prior to use and report any defects or damage to the site manager, noting them on the daily check sheet
  • Ensure mobile plant is greased, radiators are clean of dust, and oil levels are maintained according to company and manufacturer procedures
  • Operate machinery responsibly and only for its designed tasks
  • Communicate with colleagues to support the smooth and efficient operation of the facility
  • Read, understand and follow all risk assessments, work procedures and safe systems of work
  • Wash down mobile plant at the end of each shift
  • Carry out tasks other than machine operation as requested by management
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need NPORS certification for operating relevant machinery, high level of operational competence in heavy machinery handling, strong understanding of health safety and environmental compliance, effective communication and teamwork abilities, ability to work flexibly and take on additional non-machine tasks when required, and attention to detail in inspections, reporting and maintenance.
