Merit Medical is seeking a skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Galway, Ireland.

The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC packages, fault finding and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively as part of cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in the use of Beckhoff PLC packages, with experience with Allen Bradley and Omron beneficial.
- Excellent fault finding and problem-solving skills, with ability to investigate and identify key technology drivers to complex automation challenges.
- Design and execute control systems for industrial automation equipment, from concept to debugging PLC programs.
- Install and validate new or upgraded equipment into operation, assisting validation teams.
- Work as part of the digitalisation team to develop the factory of the future project.
The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to define work packages, plan, and organise automation activities. A strong analytical mindset, with ability to analyse data from proof of concepts and develop approved solutions, is essential for this role.
As a Senior Controls Engineer at Merit Medical, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of automation projects, from design and development to implementation and verification. You will also be part of a dynamic team, working closely with colleagues to deliver innovative solutions that improve patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing upgrades on current equipment to improve functionality, output, and safety.
- Managing external relationships with technology providers and integrators.
- Designing test equipment and creating validated test procedures for process testing.
- Leading design activities with internal and external contributors.
- Supporting and communicating effectively with the Automation Manager.
Requirements:
- Third-level degree in Controls, Electrical, Electronic, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Over 6 years' experience in an automated environment, with proven track record of success.
- Knowledge of medical device processes, with good understanding of product and process design.
- Experience with CAD packages beneficial.
- Industrial automation design experience.
- Knowledge of Industrial Automation/Robotics.
- Vision System experience.
