Senior Financial Strategist Job Description

Role Overview:

The Senior Financial Strategist will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of customers who require financing to carry out residential development projects. This includes ongoing management and oversight of projects throughout the lending cycle from initial enquiry through to full repayment of any facility provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers requiring funding for residential development projects.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of residential development projects, assist borrowers to structure loan proposals, prepare clear and concise loan reports, and make recommendations to the appropriate sanctioning authority.
  • Provide support and guidance to team members on funding applications.
  • Participate in regular reviews of borrower relationships and funded developments with the DML, HOL, the HBFI Management Team, and other HBFI business areas.
  • Meet lending targets within agreed timeframes and commercial terms.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to the HOL, the HBFI Management Team, and other stakeholders on the progress of the HBFI funded schemes.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all documentation related to loan facilities is properly recorded and available for audit purposes.
  • Ensure required cooperation with internal and external auditors.

Relationships with Other Business Divisions:

  • Develop strong working relationships between the lending team, the Credit & Risk team, the primary service provider, and other external advisors such as monitoring surveyors, property advisors, etc.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar role in a financial institution with a prudential track record in residential development lending, preparing funding proposals, building and maintaining strong working relationships with customers, and achieving lending targets.
  • Excellent knowledge of residential development lending product offerings and markets.
  • Strong knowledge of lending agreements, covenants, and security requirements.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant financing models and data with an ability to review, understand, and interpret audited financial accounts and financial forecasts.
  • Demonstrated sound commercial judgment and awareness of the residential market in Ireland.
  • Track record in managing credit quality and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring more junior members of the team.
