Job Overview

The Senior Psychologist will play a key role in supporting young adults with complex disability needs aged between 18 - 26 years. This position offers an opportunity for working across a variety of services and organisations within the catchment area of Dublin, South Kildare and West Wicklow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivery of professional psychology services aligned with best practice guidelines.
  • Carrying a clinical caseload appropriate to the post.
  • Providing psychological services including assessment, formulation, intervention, and management in home, community, and clinic settings.
  • Contributing a psychological perspective to case planning and multi-agency case working, reviewing and calling multi-professional meetings when necessary.
  • Consulting in family meetings and case reviews.
  • Representing and advocating for the psychological needs of service users.
  • Working within limits of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct, and clinical governance.
  • Developing and collating professional reports as required in accordance with high professional standards.
  • Working effectively within an interdisciplinary team structure.
  • Ensuring coordinated interdisciplinary and inter-agency service delivery.
  • Providing advice and consultation to staff working with the client group across a range of agencies and settings.
  • Developing and delivering training for frontline staff as part of our model of service delivery.
  • Developing standing operating procedures and clinical pathways.
  • Providing clinical supervision as required.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely client records in line with legislation and policy guidelines.
  • Updating statistical records, including use of Kare's electronic database.
Requirements:
  • A university degree or diploma (Level 8 equivalent) with 1st or 2nd class honours in Psychology, with the honour obtained in that subject.
  • AND a relevant postgraduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology OR An Equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
  • Demonstrated competence in the care groups applied for.
  • At least five years' satisfactory post-graduate experience in professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent gaining the postgraduate professional qualification, and no less than two years full-time spent in post-qualification experience as a professional psychologist.
  • High standard of suitability and ability for the proper discharge of the office.
  • Competence in working with adults with developmental disabilities, either as part of a professional qualification or as supervised practice as a basic grade psychologist.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
  • Full Clean Licence and access to own vehicle.
