Volunteer Role

We are seeking volunteers to participate in our Memory Walks on Sunday mornings. As a volunteer, you will be part of a dynamic team that provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for individuals with dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cheer Squad Captain: Greet and encourage walkers with high-fives and upbeat cheers.
  • Hydration Support: Hand out water and keep everyone refreshed.
  • Route Guide: Guide participants along the route and prevent detours.
  • Safety Monitor: Spot trip hazards, report issues, and direct anyone in need to medical help.
  • Event Coordinator: Relay updates to coordinators.
  • Memory Ambassador: Wear your high-vis vest and share quick facts about our cause and boost morale.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Clear Communication: Give directions, share info about the walk, and connect effortlessly with participants and coordinators.
  • Approachable Nature: A friendly smile and positive energy to keep spirits high.
  • Observant Eye: Spot hazards or issues before they become problems.
  • Reliability: The route relies on you being in the right place at the right time.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate seamlessly with fellow stewards and event staff.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Think on your feet if unexpected situations arise.
Requirements
  • Basic English language skills.
  • Age 16 or older.
  • Minimum time commitment: Once off (2 hours).
