Job Summary

The European Consumer Centre Network is a vital partner in promoting consumers' rights across Europe. As a Senior Case Handler, you will play a key role in advising and mediating on behalf of consumers with issues in EU countries or non-EU countries.

This is a high-volume, fast-paced position that requires excellent administration and organizational skills, as well as strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of European consumer law and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

A key responsibility of the Senior Case Handler will be to manage complex cases involving consumers and businesses. This will involve drafting clear and concise responses to consumers, outlining their legal rights and/or advising them of available remedy channels.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or higher diploma in law and at least three years' experience in an area related to the role. Relevant experience in casework, including the use of electronic case management applications, is also essential.

The Senior Case Handler will be responsible for:

  • Delivering a high-quality complaint handling service to consumers;
  • Drafting responses to consumers outlining their legal rights and/or advising them of available remedy channels;
  • Mediating with businesses and negotiating satisfactory outcomes on behalf of consumers;
  • Allocating resources and case work appropriately and monitoring performance to ensure all deliverables are achieved;
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing review of case management processes and procedures.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships within the network and with external stakeholders.

In addition to the core responsibilities outlined above, the Senior Case Handler may also be involved in research or policy initiatives relevant to the work of the European Consumer Centre Network.
