Electrical Design Professional

The role involves providing technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of HV projects. Candidates must have a detailed understanding of station HV equipment and its operation, as well as knowledge of protection schemes and onsite construction safety implications.

To succeed in this position, applicants will need to possess excellent communication skills, be proficient in CAD/CAE systems such as MicroStation or AutoCAD, and have a general proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

A minimum of 3 years electrical experience or equivalent design work experience is essential. The successful candidate will also need to understand and apply relevant approved Quality Management systems and standards.

  • Prepare preliminary health and safety documentation and design risk assessments.
  • Develop detailed electrical designs, including layouts, schematics & wiring schedules.
  • Liaise with designers in other disciplines and external contractors while maintaining commercial focus.
  • Provide technical support throughout the HV substation lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in implementing standards, policies, and quality systems to ensure optimum designs. They will also need to demonstrate knowledge of ESB HV network assets and High Voltage Sub-Stations.

Key Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Minimum 3 years experience in electrical design or related field.

Proficient in CAD/CAE Systems such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
