Our Dublin office is seeking a highly skilled Flood Risk Consultant to lead and manage flood risk assessment projects, advising clients on mitigation strategies, compliance, and climate resilience.

This role requires an experienced professional to work with urban and rural developments, prepare detailed reports and planning submissions in accordance with Irish and EU regulations.

The ideal candidate will conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to identify flood risk issues and recommend mitigation measures.

They will develop and implement sustainable drainage strategies and flood mitigation solutions, while liaising with clients, local authorities, and statutory bodies.

Mentoring and supervising junior staff is also a key aspect of this role.

RequirementsQualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status desirable.
Experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years' experience in flood risk assessment, hydrological modeling, or water management consultancy.
  • Proven experience with HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, MIKE FLOOD, or similar hydraulic modeling software.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish flood risk policy, planning regulations, and design standards.
  • Experience managing complex projects and delivering high-quality reports to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct flood risk assessments and hydraulic/hydrological modeling for urban and rural developments.
  2. Prepare detailed flood risk reports and planning submissions in accordance with Irish and EU regulations.
  3. Develop and implement sustainable drainage strategies and flood mitigation solutions.
  4. Liaise with clients, local authorities, and statutory bodies to provide expert advice on flood risk management.
  5. Mentor and supervise junior staff, providing technical guidance and support.
  6. Contribute to business development through proposal writing, client engagement, and knowledge sharing.
