Job Title: Associate Director – Highways and Active Travel

This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a strong background in highways, greenway, and active travel schemes. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Leading large-scale design teams to ensure project delivery meets client expectations and company standards
  2. Managing a portfolio of projects including maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  3. Mentoring junior Project Managers within the sector
  4. Supervising senior and junior team members
  5. Planning and overseeing design work with engineering discipline leads and technicians
  6. Preparing technical reports and tender documentation
  7. Coordinating effectively with project and infrastructure teams
  8. Ensuring adherence to quality assurance procedures and health and safety legislation
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with Chartered Engineer status
  • A minimum of 15 years post-graduate experience in designing and managing highways, greenway, and active travel schemes
  • Experience in delivering design and build projects desirable
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Strong experience in liaising with clients, external stakeholders, and sub-consultants
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project budgets
  • Energetic, self-motivated professional with excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills
  • Adaptable and collaborative team player
  • Capable of working independently and efficiently under minimal supervision
  • Possession of a full, valid driver's licence
