Job Description

The Financial Controller role at this esteemed organization involves managing the day-to-day activities of a dedicated finance team, ensuring impeccable financial integrity and control over operational activities.

Purpose of the Role
  • Reporting and Control:
    • Prepare and consolidate timely and accurate monthly management accounts and TBs in line with organizational timeframes.
    • Review final GL balances, including month-end balance sheet reconciliations and P&L.
    • Provide detailed financial insights on business performance to senior management monthly.
    • Maintain strict financial control to prevent accounting surprises.
    • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, both positive and negative.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all financial and control matters.
    • Effectively manage working capital, driving efficiencies and reductions in WC investment.
  • Business Partnership:
    • Support strategic business and finance initiatives with the Director of Finance.
    • Conduct post-month-end reviews with Directors, promoting accountability.
    • Respond to financial queries from senior management, ensuring timely resolution.
    • Buildeffective relationships with senior stakeholders across the organization.
    • Coordinate AP and AR activities for timely GL close.
    • Support the delivery of the annual statutory audit in collaboration with Group Finance.
  • People:
    • Lead and guide the finance team effectively.
    • Monitor team KPI performance monthly.
    • Promote a culture of change management, challenging and improving processes.
    • Provide opportunities for team members' development and support their career growth.
    • Plan workloads, conduct staff appraisals, and ensure personal development plans are in place.
    • Mentor, supervise, and coach team members.
  • Compliance:
    • Implement improvements from internal audits, maintaining a best-in-class control framework.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational finance manual and processes.
    • Foster a governance-conscious environment within the team.
    • Oversee the annual statutory process and ensure readiness for audits.
    • Manage all tax compliance matters, including Payroll taxes, VAT, Corporation tax, VIES, and Intrastat.
  • Processes:
    • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
    • Manage impacts of process changes and new systems.
    • Challenge proposed changes to ensure optimal solutions.
    • Simplify and standardize accounting and reporting processes aligned with business objectives.
  • General:
    • Manage relationships with auditors.
    • Participate in ad-hoc projects, including ERP upgrades.
    • Perform additional tasks suited to qualifications and experience, as directed.
    Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • AAC accountancy qualification with at least 5 years PQE.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a Financial Controller role.
  • Proven experience managing a team of 10+ employees.
  • Experience delivering management information and influencing senior management.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of Irish and UK tax law.
Computer Knowledge

The candidate should have:

  • Knowledge of Navision/BPC14 or similar ERP systems; BPC is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; excellent Excel skills are essential.
