We are currently seeking a caring and committed Community Support Specialist to join our team in Carrick-on-Suir.

The role involves supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, empowering them to live fulfilling lives and participate fully in their community.

You will play an active part in delivering person-centred care and support, encouraging independence, choice, and personal development.

The position requires flexibility to work a roster that includes evenings, weekends, and sleepover/waking night duties.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily living, personal care, and social activities tailored to individual needs.

  • Promote self-advocacy and community inclusion through empowerment and support.

  • Support health and well-being needs, including accompanying individuals to medical appointments.

  • Assist with behaviour support plans, communication, and leisure activities that promote engagement.

  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with policies and regulations.

  • Contribute positively to teamwork and the continuous improvement of services.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • QQI Level 5 Major Award (or higher) in Healthcare, Community, or Social Care (or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 1 year's experience supporting vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.

  • Familiarity with person-centred planning and safeguarding practices.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers.

  • A full clean driving licence is desirable.

  • Garda/Police vetting clearance is required.

Desirable:

  • Training in Studio 3, low arousal approaches, or positive behaviour support.

  • Familiarity with HIQA regulations and Health & Safety practices.

  • Experience in not-for-profit or Section 38/39 funded services.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.
