
Community Support Specialist

We are currently seeking a caring and committed Community Support Specialist to join our team in Carrick-on-Suir.
The role involves supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, empowering them to live fulfilling lives and participate fully in their community.
You will play an active part in delivering person-centred care and support, encouraging independence, choice, and personal development.
The position requires flexibility to work a roster that includes evenings, weekends, and sleepover/waking night duties.
About the Role:
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver daily living, personal care, and social activities tailored to individual needs.
Promote self-advocacy and community inclusion through empowerment and support.
Support health and well-being needs, including accompanying individuals to medical appointments.
Assist with behaviour support plans, communication, and leisure activities that promote engagement.
Maintain accurate records and reports in line with policies and regulations.
Contribute positively to teamwork and the continuous improvement of services.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
QQI Level 5 Major Award (or higher) in Healthcare, Community, or Social Care (or equivalent).
Minimum of 1 year's experience supporting vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
Familiarity with person-centred planning and safeguarding practices.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers.
A full clean driving licence is desirable.
Garda/Police vetting clearance is required.
Desirable:
Training in Studio 3, low arousal approaches, or positive behaviour support.
Familiarity with HIQA regulations and Health & Safety practices.
Experience in not-for-profit or Section 38/39 funded services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.
