Facilities & Compliance Officer We are recruiting a Facilities & Compliance Officer to provide dedicated support to the premises, compliance and facilities function within Edel House Job Title: Facilities & Compliance OfficerLocation: Edel House, Good Shepherd CorkContract Type: 3 yearfixed-term contractHours: 24 hours p/w Reporting To: Edel House Manager Role Purpose:To provide dedicated support to the premises, compliance and facilities function within Edel House by overseeing premises and contract management while also supervising support staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance. The Facilities and Compliance Officer will assist with the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures. The Officer will ensure building systems are maintained, service contracts are managed, risk and compliance (e.g. health & safety) are upheld, and administrative systems are robust. This role is about strengthening efficient operational systems for Edel House and, as required, other GSC residential services.Key Responsibilities:Premises & Contract ManagementMonitor, ensure maintenance of, and manage all Edel House building systems including heating, ventilation, lighting, plumbing, and alarmsManage service contracts across GSC services (e.g. cleaning, gardening, maintenance, security), ensuring up-to-date insurance, compliance, and high-quality service deliveryMaintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and contractor workAssist with the development, review, and implementation of health & safety and service-level procedures along with asEnsure compliance with fire safety, health & safety, building regulations, and support initiatives to improve energy efficiency across all premisesTeam Leadership & SupervisionSupervise and coordinate relevant Edel House support staff (cleaners, gardeners, caretakers), ensuring work is completed to high standardsProvide guidance, support, and performance feedback to team membersAdministrative & Policy SupportMaintain and manage relevant administrative systems, logs, and documentationAssist in developing organisational or service-level policies and procedures, particularly around health & safety and operational best practicesLiaise with internal staff, residential managers, and external contractors to ensure smooth operationsManage relevant operations within agreed budget linesExperience or ability to research relevant public / private grant opportunitiesAdditional DutiesAssist with setting up spaces for meetings, events, or communal activitiesRespond to emergencies or urgent premises issues as needed, with the possibility of occasional after-hours involvementProvide support to other residential services when requiredEssential Skills & CompetenciesExperience of working with health & safety matters, fire safety, and relevant building regulationsExperience managing contracts, contractors, or service providersReliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaborativelyExcellent communication skills; able to liaise effectively with staff, contractors, and service providersStrong administrative and IT skills for accurate record-keeping, reporting, and documentation managementDesirable SkillsPrevious exposure to residential or community environments would be beneficialKnowledge of facilities management principlesExperience in policy and procedure developmentFamiliarity with organisational compliance and reporting requirementsSalary & Benefits Competitive salary (pro-rata for 24 hours per week), aligned with organisational pay scalesCompany pension scheme, available after the qualifying periodGenerous annual leave entitlement, in line with organisational policyCompany sick pay scheme, subject to terms and conditionsEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP) providing confidential supportTraining and professional development opportunities, particularly in compliance, health & safety, and facilities managementSupportive and inclusive working environment within a values-driven organisationMileage reimbursement, where travel to other GSC residential services is required
