Gilead's therapeutic areas of focus include HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer and inflammation, and serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.The PositionWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager to be based at our location in Cork, working within the broader U.S. Controllership team.
The role reports to the Alliance and Collaborations Director in Cork and will work closely with cross-functional business partners, support the accounting, control and reporting activities of the region, drive the quality of the information reported in the regional and consolidated financial statements and other management reporting packages by establishing strong collaborative relationships with the various business partners.This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to expand his/her technical experience while also gaining experience in complex accounting operations and supporting disclosures in related sections of SEC filings.
He/she will develop working relationships with cross-functional partners and various levels of management.Essential Responsibilities:Manage the end-to-end alliance and collaboration accounting and reporting processPrepare and/or review monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities for assigned accounts (e.g. journal entries, account reconciliations, royalty payments, etc.)Analyze and prepare and/or review variance explanationsPrepare and/or review external filing and management reporting schedulesReview and on-board new collaboration arrangements and manage the accounting for day-to-day collaboration related financial activities, including milestone payments, cost sharing, royalties, and other contractual rights and obligationsSupport interpretation of internal policy and US GAAP accounting standardsSupport contract compliance and interpretation of royalty termsPrepare quarter accounting memosWork closely with cross-functional teams including Alliance Management, FP&A, Corporate Development, Technical Accounting, Legal and various internal/external business partnersManage accounting issues on complex collaboration arrangements and communicate effectively and timelyCoordinate and manage internal/external audits and balance sheet reviewsSupport the preparation and/or review of the budget/forecastLead, execute or support various ad hoc projects/initiativesKnowledge, Experience and Skills:Extensive experienceBig 4 trainedAssociate Chartered Accountant (ACA) or equivalent qualificationBA or BSc degree (or international equivalent) in accounting or equivalentExperience with/in multi-national organizationExperience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry is preferredProven technical accounting expertise (e.g., strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX)Proven ability to evaluate and interpret complex arrangements and integrate activitiesAttention to detail, organized and thoroughStrong problem solving, analytical and communication skillsSelf-motivated with a strong sense of ownershipAbility to manage projects and timelinesA track record of consistent success in different environments preferredProficiency with systems (e.g., Alliant, Oracle/SAP, Hyperion) preferredHands-on operational experience in collaboration and alliance arrangements preferredGilead Core Values – need to include inclusionIntegrity (Doing What's Right)Teamwork (Working Together)Excellence (Being Your Best)Accountability (Taking Personal ResponsibilityInclusion (Encouraging Diversity)Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)It is the policy of Gilead Sciences, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively "Gilead" or the "Company") to recruit select and employ the most qualified persons available for positions throughout the Company.
