Job Description
Manager, Alliance and Collaborations Accounting – Cork
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, and commercializes innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need.
Our focus areas include HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer, inflammation, and serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
The Position
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to be based in Cork, working within the broader U.S. Controllership team.
The role reports to the Alliance and Collaborations Director in Cork and involves supporting accounting, control, and reporting activities of the region.
The role emphasizes establishing strong collaborative relationships with various business partners to ensure high-quality reporting in financial statements and management reports.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional seeking to expand technical expertise, gain experience in complex accounting operations, and support disclosures in SEC filings.
Developing working relationships with cross-functional teams and management levels is key.
Essential Responsibilities:
Support end-to-end alliance and collaborations accounting and reporting processes.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations, royalty payments).
Analyze and explain variances.
Prepare external filings and management reporting schedules.
Manage related payments.
Maintain internal controls.
Support budgeting and forecasting.
Collaborate with teams including Alliance Management, FP&A, Legal, and others.
Support contract compliance and financial term interpretation.
Assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
Extensive experience in accounting.
Big 4 training background.
Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) or equivalent qualification.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
Experience in multinational organizations.
Preferred experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals.
Attention to detail, organization, and thoroughness.
Self-motivated with ownership mindset.
Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work well in teams.
Excellent communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other systems (e.g., Alliant, Oracle/SAP, Hyperion).
Operational experience with collaboration and alliance arrangements is a plus.
