The R&D Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of medical devices and systems.
Focus will be on learning, developing technical skills, and applying knowledge.
Collaboration across multiple functions will be necessary to create innovative solutions, from the concept phase through product commercialization.
The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team and other R&D Engineers to solve complex problems while keeping the end user's needs at the forefront.
The engineer will receive formal/informal training in the following: concept development, mechanical design, test method development and implementation, process definition and qualification.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Working on well-defined tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers or managers
Supporting the design and development process
Supporting the design and development of products, prototype development, design, test method development, design verification/validation
Application of both new and existing technologies, materials, and processes to deliver a product.
Production Services: Supporting Hollister specific manufacturing technologies.
Developing and designing concepts, components, and systems using CAD Software (and/or Solidworks)
Developing prototypes and conduct hands-on testing to evaluate functionality and durability
Problem-solving activities such as Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOEs), and use of other problem-solving tools
Report writing and presenting
Other related tasks depending on project assignment and priorities
May involve some international travel to vendors or other Hollister sites
Work Experience Requirements:
1-2 years' experience in the medical device industry preferred (this may include work placement)
Educational Requirements:
Level 8 Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:
Excellent PC skills, in particular MS Office
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to work on own initiative and respond to changing priorities
Local Specifications:
Fluency in English
