Health Care Assistant Panel Temporary and Permanent Contracts Full and Part Time HoursThe role of the Health Care Assistant is to support the delivery of patient care under the supervision and direction of qualified Nursing personnel.
Responsibilities:Ward based Healthcare Assistants.Supporting the Reg Nurse (RN) in attending to all patients needs.Assisting with nutrition and hydration and assisting patients where required.Working with RN/Multidisciplinary Team in the mobilisation/rehabilitation of patients.Working as part of a team in pressure area prevention.Assisting patients with mouth care as needed.Maintaining high standards in hygiene.Communicating with patients, and their family and parents.Assisting with the needs of patients and families at End of Life.
Have a working knowledge of HIQA standards as they apply to the role/care setting, e.g. Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, and Hygiene standards.
Eligible applicants will be those on the closing date for the competition:Possess a relevant Health Skills qualification as outlined in the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) formley FETAC on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) of not less than QQI Level 5OrPossess a relevant Healthcare qualification at not less than QQI Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)OrBe currently undertaking a relevant Health Skills QQI Level 5 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) with a commitment to complete the appropriate health skills QQ1 Level 5 qualification within 2 years of taking up post.OrBe currently employed as a Health Care Assistant, or in a comparable role for at least 2 years and give an undertaking to acquire an appropriate Health Skills qualification at not less than QQI level 5 programme on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) within 2 years of taking up post.AndCandidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the role.Recent Acute experience is highly desirable.Closing date for applications is 1pm on Thursday, 4th September 2025.MUH reserve the right to create a panel for this post from which permanent, fixed term and specified purpose vacancies of a full or part time duration may be filled.Mercy University Hospital (MUH)MUH is a growing voluntary hospital in the heart of Cork City.
