Strategic Program Manager

Dublin, Ireland Square Full time

Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

The Account Management Program Management & Strategy team (AM PM & Strategy) within Growth Data & Strategy (DAS) builds data-driven programs to enhance Account Manager efficiency and effectiveness, improving the experience for businesses using Square’s ecosystem of products. Our initiatives are designed to drive business growth and customer retention by optimising the tools and strategies that support our Account Managers. We are a team of Technical Program Managers and Strategic Program Managers who collaborate closely with Account Management stakeholders: Growth Tools, Product, Analytics, Data Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to lead company-wide priority programs.

As a Strategic Program Manager on the AM PM & Strategy team reporting into the Strategic Program Management Lead, you will define and manage complex strategic programs that drive the organisation forward. You will identify opportunities, align cross-functional stakeholders, assess trade-offs, pursue solutions, and ensure program execution to boost Square's growth. Ideal team members have strong strategic foundations, excel in stakeholder management, and are adept at developing and driving program execution.

We offer remote working opportunities within the Republic of Ireland.

You will:

Deeply engage with our Account Management teams, understand their day-to-day operational challenges, and identify scalability issues & growth opportunities across the organisation.

Make sense of ambiguous problems, develop business strategy, define requirements, curate stakeholders, and drive execution towards a concerted goal.

Work closely with business leaders and technical partners to translate business goals into technical requirements.

Manage the roadmap for your program(s) in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders.

Establish metrics to track the impact of your programs against broader goals.

Build relationships with teams within Account Management and our closest stakeholders in Customer Success, Data Engineering, Analytics, Marketing, and Product.

Develop and iterate end-to-end solutions, ensuring on-time delivery that meets defined business goals and requirements.

Qualifications

You have:

5+ years of experience in program management, Sales / Account Management operations, consulting, product management, or strategy & operations roles within a technology company.

Proven ability to document and communicate cross-functional business requirements, program scope, and program updates (, Business Requirement Docs, Program Charters / Plans, Decision Registers, and program newsletters).

Demonstrated experience collaborating with technical teams to build and deliver end-to-end programs, with a baseline understanding of the underlying platforms and technologies.

Proficiency in segmenting and prioritizing large, multi-quarter projects into pilots and future iterations with clear roll-off plans.

Experience with front office systems and project management tools such as Salesforce, Salesforce CPQ, Salesloft, Jira, Notion, and Docusign.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of influencing and driving alignment across cross-functional teams.

Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment by adapting to changing priorities and requirements. Possess strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a sense of ownership, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. A natural curiosity and comfort with ambiguity are essential.
