The Role. 

GMC are currently looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team. 

The successful Contracts Manager will be supporting the delivery of projects across all aspects of the business from a construction point of view. This is a permanent position in our Operations Department working on projects for clients which include Irish Water and Power Projects. 


Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Management of sub-contractors and onsite staff. 
  • Management and ownership of health and safety issues. 
  • Ensuring full involvement of all elements regarding Groundworks.  
  • Risk Management: Identifying and managing contractual risks, including legal and financial considerations. 
  • Contract Administration: Overseeing the implementation and compliance of contract terms throughout the construction project. 
  • Budget Oversight: Monitoring contract budgets and ensuring cost control measures are in place. 
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and organized contract documentation, including revisions, amendments, and correspondence. 
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring that all parties involved adhere to contractual obligations, safety standards, and legal requirements. Understanding company policies regarding quality and ensuring these are implemented at every level of works.  
  • Communication: Facilitating communication between project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and internal teams. 
  • Quality Assurance: Implementing quality assurance measures to ensure that work meets contractual and regulatory standards. Understand quality requirements from specs and drawings and ensure compliance with both. 
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluating the performance of contractors and subcontractors against contractual benchmarks. 
  • Reporting: Providing regular reports on contract status, potential risks, and project progress to relevant parties. 

 

The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies: 

  • Full clean driver's license essential. 
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a strong site background. 
  • Previous experience in road construction is beneficial. 
  • Previous experience as a civil foreman. 
  • Confident, motivated and can work independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines. 
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. 
  • Proven record of seeing projects through from beginning to completion 
  • Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy. 
  • Time management abilities to meet targets.
