The role will be based in our brand-new offices in Dublin City Centre. Projects 

Our current portfolio of transportation infrastructure works comprises a diverse mix of local and national Active Travel projects for major Clients including BusConnects in Dublin and Cork, major Greenway projects (in Cork, Waterford, Galway and Donegal), multiple active travel and bus priority schemes in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin City, Cork and Galway amongst other local authorities. We also work alongside our rail, aviation and power teams as part of our agile delivery approach to developing well rounded staff.  Our portfolio ranges from early planning phases to construction delivery including design and build and employer design contracts.

Job responsibilities include: 

  • Develop & delivery of design management strategies which will include the design review and progressive design assurance processes;   

  • Develop technical drawings and specifications for Design and Build Contractors and Build only Contractors using the TII specification for road works, public works contract forms or other forms including NEC and FIDIC;  

  • Ensure designs and contract documents are in accordance with programmes, safety, quality, and cost objectives and the implementation and oversight of a robust quality management system throughout the design development process; 

  • Ensure the works elements of designs are designed and phased in a manner which minimises operational disruption and that they are constructable and cost efficient; and designs consider interfaces with systems of relevant third parties  

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc) 

  • Chartered Engineer & Member of relevant professional engineering institution (e.g. IEI, ICE or equivalent) 

 

Preferred Skills & Experience 

  • Required to have experience in design or design management, ideally working in a multi-disciplinary design team, and have excellent communication skills with all disciplines, partners, 3rd Parties, and clients; 

  • NEC, FIDIC or PWC contracts experience  

  • Overseeing the development and delivery of detail designs or D&B designs including design drawings and coordination between design and construction teams to ensure timely flow of design information. 

  • Infrastructure design experience including working knowledge of the relevant standards and guidelines (or equivalent), including the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (“DMURS”), NTA Cycle Design Manual, and TII specifications and guidelines for new road, active travel, and public transport detailed designs;
