The Regional Governance Officer will facilitate the Directors of Nursing in ensuring that CareChoice Group residential homes consistently surpass the standards required by HIQA and are considered 'best in class'.


This role is based will be based in Dublin and involves travel to all our current and future homes in the Leinster Region on a regular basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision of strategic clinical input and ensuring effective advice to the Director of Governance.
  • Support the Director of Governance in ensuring that effective Clinical Governance, quality and resident safety procedures are in place.
  • Provide support to the Director of Governance from a Clinical governance perspective in the growth of CareChoice whether that is in relation to acquisitions or new builds.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures for clinical areas in conjunction with senior colleagues.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of all legislation and standards pertaining to the industry.
  • Work with Directors of Nursing to ensure that the quality of care and experience of every resident is monitored and developed on an ongoing basis.
  • Work with the Directors of Nursing pre, during and post HIQA inspections; provide clear guidance in preparation for HIQA inspections; support Directors of Nursing during registration inspections; analyse HIQA reports and provide support and direction to Directors of Nursing in rectifying any shortfalls identified during inspections.
  • Promote a culture of learning from critical incidents within the organisation to ensure that lessons learned are disseminated within the organisation. This will include ensuring that all serious incidents are reviewed according to Carechoice policies. Support the Directors of Nursing in reporting serious incidents to the relevant external stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining a physical environment that is safe, peaceful and comfortable for residents and employees alike.
  • Ensure the EPICCARE system is up to date in all Leinster homes and work with the DONs to identify and implement any training needs.
  • May be involved in the recruitment, development and succession planning of clinical staff within the homes.
  • Ensure that effective arrangements for resident safety are in place across the organisation and that such arrangements are audited regularly
  • Safeguard each resident through strong record keeping, and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of advances in geriatric care, treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and cost effective options for the delivery of service. 


The successful candidate will meet the following:

  • Will be an experienced and skilled Nurse Manager with up to date PIN.
  • Have relevant third level and/or professional qualification, preferably in healthcare management
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of HIQA National Standards and Regulations
  • Ability to influence and motivate a range of stakeholders in order to deliver continuous improvement in services
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively both when working in a team and own initiative.
  • Be self-confident, energetic and persuasive with exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Have a demonstrable ability to problem solve
  • Will have excellent IT skills and significant experience with EPICCARE.
  • Quality, Audits and Standards experience in a Healthcare setting together with Change Management experience is desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years + in a Senior Clinical role is essential
