The Payroll & Benefits Manager will be part of the Human Resources Risk & Compliance team and will complete the Company's payroll function, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

What are the minimum requirements you need for the role?

  • Thorough knowledge of either ROI or UK Income Tax & Social Security system & rules.
  • 3-4 years' experience in a payroll and benefits related role.
  • Experience in managing relationships with benefit providers & intermediaries such as Pensions, Income Continuance, Life Insurance and Healthcare.
  • Highly skilled in the Microsoft suite including Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint. Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll software.

What is your role and your responsibilities?
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Payroll Management - pay authorised wages & salaries to all staff members, including members of Management & Directors.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with all jurisdictions in which Carne operates and looks to understand best practices.
  • Manage and administer all Death in Service and GIP schemes in all jurisdictions
  • Manage and administer Pension schemes including preparation of files for uploading to provider's websites.
  • Manage health insurance schemes - ensure Group scheme deductions and allowances are administered accurately, with onboardings/offboarding's being recorded in a timely manner.
  • Oversee all administration tasks in relation to the Employee Restricted Stock Unit Scheme including original computations, valuation adjustments, additions and removals to the Share Scheme Register, etc.
  • Administer, manage and maintain sick leave records in respect of SW payments and top ups in line with Company policy and relevant legislation.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Assist in the design of compensation packages and bonus programs that align with the company's strategic plan
  • Ensure salaries and benefits comply with the current legislation about human rights and pay equity. Prepare GPGR reporting as required
  • Identify trends and assist in implementing new practices to engage and motivate employees
  • Renew our compensation plans with monetary and non-monetary benefits based on employee needs annually
  • Structure compensation in ways that will yield the highest value for the organization
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of employee benefit programs
  • Track compensation and benefits benchmarking data
  • Always ensure data integrity and compliance with GDPR
  • Implement permitted salary sacrifice arrangements if requested in each jurisdiction including travel tickets, cycle to work, childcare vouchers, pension contributions, etc.
  • Ensure all benefits-in-kind are taxed appropriately and accurately reported to relevant Revenue authorities.
  • Become familiar with social-welfare rules and their impact on income continuance arrangements especially in ROI and UK and ensure accurately reflected in monthly payroll.
  • Become familiar with rules for cross-border working and ensure accurately applied in all cases.
  • Ensure Revenue & other statutory deductions are correctly applied for all employees using up-to-date personal tax codes and that required Revenue returns are provided.
  • Review reporting and pay-slips to ensure complete and accurate before issuing payment instruction to banks.
  • Ensure all employee expense claims are properly administered and maintained in accordance with company policy and income tax regulations.
  • Deal with all staff queries in relation to salary payments and benefits and deductions promptly.
  • Provide all monthly payroll journals to the Finance department for posting to the finance system
  • Preparation and management of Staff Cost Budgets and Forecasts for The Group.
  • Keep the senior management team informed of problems that may impact the achievement of company goals, and those that are not being addressed adequately at line management level.
