Title of Position: FAR 135 Director of Maintenance

Job Summary
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the Part 135/Part 91 Maintenance Department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing maintenance operations for a fleet of aircraft. This role requires extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, personnel management, and the development of operational policies and procedures to enhance aircraft utilization and safety.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee daily maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and the company's high standards of safety and quality.
  2. Oversee all maintenance performed on the aircraft operated by the company.
  3. Develop and implement maintenance policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and schedules to ensure timely and efficient maintenance operations.
  4. Experience with maintenance tracking and management software (CAMP, Engine and Airframe programs, Jeppeson, JetInsight, etc.) is required.
  5. Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  6. Coordinate with the operations department to schedule aircraft maintenance, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
  7. Oversee the maintenance budget, including procurement of parts and services, cost control, and financial reporting.
  8. Ensure accurate maintenance records are kept in compliance with FAA and company requirements.
  9. Conduct business matters with aircraft owners, vendors, clients, employees, and the FAA.
  10. Manage relationships with external maintenance vendors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  11. Stay updated on industry trends, FAA regulations, and technological advancements in aircraft maintenance.
  12. Lead investigations of any maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  13. Participate in the strategic planning of the maintenance department, including fleet expansion and maintenance facility upgrades.

Requirements

  1. Minimum ten years of experience in maintaining aircraft with verifiable practical experience as an active aircraft mechanic.
  2. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a maintenance organization.
  3. Thorough knowledge of FARs, aircraft technical bulletins, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
  4. FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification or license (A&P) is required.
  5. Inspection Authorization (IA) Certification.
  6. Must possess a valid driver license and meet the company's vehicle insurance requirements.
  7. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop a team.
  8. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  9. Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  10. This position is subject to drug and/or alcohol testing per the DOT/FAA requirements (pre-employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, post-accident).
  11. Experience in a Part 135 environment is preferred.
