embecta, formerly part of BD, is one of the largest pure-play diabetes care companies in the world, focused on improving the lives of people living with diabetes with more than 30 million people in over 100 countries relying on their products.
As leaders in insulin delivery, embecta empowers people with diabetes to live their best life through innovative solutions, partnerships, and the passion of more than 2,000 employees around the globe.
The Irish plant, based in Dun Laoghaire, runs 24/7 and is the Worldwide Centre of Excellence for Pen Needle Manufacturing, producing 4.6 billion medical devices annually and employing approximately 520 people in the Irish site.
About the role
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing,the Plant Director will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Dun Laoghaire facility across operations, engineering, quality, and R&D. Working closely with cross functional leaders, you will ensure optimal operational performance, continuous improvement and compliance with all quality, regulatory, financial and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a multi-functional team, collaborating closely with functional managers and business leaders with the goal of driving site safety, quality, on time delivery and cost improvement.
Provide Leadership to the Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Materials, Finance, and Human Resource functions to achieve and exceed goals.
Responsible for managing plant P&L, developing manufacturing facility policies, and authorising their implementation while ensuring product quality and safety.
Champion and drive change, results, and progress through multiple strategic, plant-level projects with highest criticality including prioritising and selecting appropriate projects.
Enable and lead innovation, process optimisation, while developing a culture of continuous improvement, manufacturing excellence, open communication, and employee engagement activities.
Serve as the organisation's local representative with external parties (e.g., Government, community and/or other manufacturing peer organisations/ agencies)
Ensure compliance with local embecta quality policies, including GMP and ISO standards, through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principles.
Comply with all local, Government, international and embecta safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
Key Requirements:
B.Sc./B.A. degree in business, science, engineering, industrial management, or a related field, or related experience. An MBA degree is desirable.
At least 10 years' experience in a management role within the medical devices/pharma industry.
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of success in leading a manufacturing operation of >100 people.
Experience of working with and leading various functions including production, engineering, HR, finance, and supply chain.
Demonstrable people management and team building skills, successful track record of recruiting, developing and retaining high performing and engaged workforce.
Strategic thinker, able to develop short and long-range plans for the site whilst managing execution.
