Role Profile:

We present to you a fantastic opportunity within the District Heating Centre of Excellence (DH CoE) in the Decarbonised Heat & System Support Department.

The Decarbonised Heat & System Support Department is a new addition to SEAI and will encompass the transfer of current functions alongside the establishment of the new national District Heating Centre of Excellence. The current functions include the Decarbonised Heating and Cooling research function, the Single Point of Contact service for consenting in renewable energy projects, and the SEAI Sustainable Energy Communities, Schools, and RESS programs.

The DH CoE is a team working at a national level, dedicated to delivering various program areas, including:

  • Market Development - Advocate for DH on a national scale, offering guidance, insights, and data while leading and representing the sector with the expertise of the Centre of Excellence.
  • District Heating Strategy - Assist in the national development of DH to ensure the accomplishment of strategic objectives and outcomes.
  • District Heating Support Unit - Aid in the advancement and implementation of DH schemes at a national level, providing sector-specific guidance and expertise.

The selected candidate will report to the Head of the Decarbonised Heat & System Support Department.

Essential Requirements:

The ideal candidate should be able to showcase:

  • A degree (Level 7 on NFQ) or an equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science, or Economics.
  • At least 6 years of experience in this or a related sector or role (including potential postgraduate studies).
  • Proven experience in project management with the ability to delegate tasks and oversee a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, encompassing report writing, presentations, and public speaking engagements.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Understanding of the energy sector, specifically in energy efficiency and renewable energy within business and industry, would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience and proficiency in DH scheme development, design, and implementation.
  • Expertise in commercial management within DH, including knowledge of business model development, procurement, negotiation, risk management, governance, and contract management.
  • A certification in project management.
Eligibility to Work:
