About the Senior Director, Pharmacy Sourcing Strategy Role:
The Senior Director, Pharmacy Sourcing Strategy at Optum plays a crucial role in identifying products, negotiating contracts, and facilitating product access for alternative sourcing initiatives. Collaborate with pharmaceutical manufacturers to curate a top-tier product portfolio across Specialty, Biosimilar, and Generic categories.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify product targets aligned with Optum's strategic vision to drive value across all pharmacies
- Develop direct sourcing relationships and negotiate competitive product acquisition deals with global manufacturers
- Ensure OptumRx maintains a competitive cost position through effective sourcing and negotiation efforts
- Support the VP Sourcing & Trade Relations in achieving growth targets for the new Optum Market Access entity
Additional Responsibilities:
- Establish and leverage trade relationships with suppliers
- Oversee all contracting activities to secure competitive pricing and terms
- Collaborate with various entities to develop a strategic sourcing plan for pharmacies
- Provide regular financial reporting and performance analysis
- Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines in all sourcing activities
- Promote a value generation mindset within the team
- Foster a data-driven approach to execution across functions
- Participate in budget planning for the Sourcing organization
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in contract negotiations and partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in healthcare product-oriented companies
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing and cost reduction in healthcare
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead high-performing teams
- Operational and financial acumen
- Flexibility in a changing business environment
- Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in buy-side analysis and supplier risk management in the pharmaceutical industry
- Master's degree or equivalent work experience
