Merchants Quay Ireland (MQI) is a prominent Irish charity dedicated to assisting individuals who are experiencing homelessness and addiction issues. The organization offers a wide range of services, including drop-in facilities providing access to essential amenities such as food, showers, and toilets, as well as crisis intervention services for those struggling with addiction. MQI also delivers primary healthcare services (nursing, medical, and mental health care) along with residential treatment, detox programs, and addiction counseling for individuals in prison.

MQI is driven by the vision of creating a fair society where nobody has to confront homelessness or addiction alone, and where everyone receives the necessary support to mitigate the negative impact of these challenges. Established in Dublin by the Franciscans in 1969, MQI now operates in 19 locations spanning 12 counties in Ireland. Committed to addressing the evolving needs of their clients, MQI has recently introduced innovative services, including Jane's Place for women with complex requirements, and plans to open Ireland's inaugural Medically Supervised Injecting Facility (MSIF) in 2024.

  • POSITION: The Deputy Head of Fundraising & Communications reports to the Head of Fundraising & Communications and is tasked with leading a small yet motivated team. The role involves providing strategic direction to drive ongoing income growth from fundraising efforts and enhancing public awareness of the challenges faced by MQI's clients through creative communication initiatives. Responsibilities include implementing fundraising strategies to generate revenue, meeting annual fundraising goals, and collaboratively developing new campaigns that support the charity's long-term objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

Prospective candidates should possess relevant qualifications and substantial experience in team leadership, as well as a comprehensive understanding of managing complex individual giving programs. Key qualifications include a proven track record in creating and executing successful fundraising strategies, enhancing charity brands, producing compelling fundraising materials, and executing notable fundraising campaigns. The ideal candidate will also have experience in major giving, exceptional networking abilities, and the capacity to cultivate meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders.

The preferred candidate will thrive in a dynamic, results-oriented environment and demonstrate a passion for fundraising coupled with a focus on innovation and continuous enhancement. Strategic thinking, creativity, and a hands-on approach to impact delivery are essential qualities.
