We are AIB. A robust Irish bank filled with purpose - to support our customers in achieving their dreams and aspirations. The same goes for our employees. We consist of small teams where you can truly stand out.

We are thrilled about the shift in our focus. We aim to be at the core of our customers' financial lives by providing them with an outstanding experience. We are fostering a culture that challenges the traditional expectations of a bank, both from our customers and employees.

About the Role:

The Risk Analytics Department plays a core role within Risk at AIB, comprising skilled quantitative analysts tasked with enhancing credit risk measurement and decision-making across all aspects of our business and control functions. Through Risk Analytics, we achieve optimal pricing for customers, swift credit decisions, a secure lending environment, and effective use of shareholders' capital with sustainable returns.

As a cutting-edge analytics team, we are deeply dedicated to extracting insights and value from data. We engage in various activities such as data mining, visual analytics, regression modeling, machine learning, and pattern recognition. Innovation and creativity are highly valued, making this role a fantastic opportunity for any analyst who can address business problems in a novel way, create effective solutions, and effectively communicate outcomes across the organization.

Risk Analytics functions within the broader Risk division at AIB, offering advanced statistical analysis to guide the Bank in risk-informed decision-making and ensure compliance with European banking regulations. This encompasses various asset classes, including International Corporate, Retail, Commercial Real Estate, SME, Sovereign, and inter-bank lending.

As an analyst in Risk Analytics, your projects may involve:

  • Point-in-time performance analysis for loss provisioning.
  • Long-term economic capital analysis.
  • Automated lending decision algorithms.
  • Macroeconomic scenario forecasting and stress testing.
  • Simulations of the macroeconomy for systematic risk.
  • Research on the impact of Climate Change on credit risk.
  • Risk-based loan pricing estimation.
  • Development of models to support business decisions and comply with standards such as IFRS9, IRB, and stress testing policies, including Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), Exposure at Default (EAD) models.
  • Segmentation analysis and model calibration.
  • Contributing to model standards and methodologies.
  • Data extraction, transformation, and cleansing for modeling purposes.
  • Collaborating with business units to align models with their decision-making processes.

Credit risk is a constantly evolving field, and working in Risk Analytics positions you at the forefront of quantitative risk analysis. You will regularly implement the latest methodologies and develop tailored in-house solutions as part of a supportive team where you can grow.

Being an analyst in Risk Analytics at a leading Irish bank will have a significant impact on AIB's stability and the broader financial system.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Analysis and Investigation: Conduct complex data analyses and investigations to enhance the bank's management, services, and products.
  • Predictive Model Development: Contribute to building predictive models focused on core business aspects like capital requirements and loss projections.
  • Data Insights: Engage in exploratory data analysis to derive actionable insights and recommendations for the Business.
  • Risk Segmentation Analysis: Develop segmentations to better understand and manage risks in our lending portfolio.

What you will bring:

  • On track for a 2.1 or higher in a bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative analytical discipline.
    • SQL programming experience - familiarity with languages like R, Python, or Matlab is advantageous.
    • Curiosity and creativity.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to defend decisions.
    • Expected to graduate in 2024.
