Junior Buyer
As a Junior Buyer at Applegreen, you will play a pivotal role in the overall management of specific Food & Packaging categories.
You will be a member of the Commercial Food Team including buyers and analysts, implementing strategic initiatives that align with our business growth.
This position requires strong analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and the aptitude to foster collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
As Applegreen expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time.
The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:
Oversee category management for your designated product area, including responsibility for sales performance, margin optimization, budget adherence, and inventory management.
Develop strong, collaborative relationships with existing and prospective suppliers, ensuring alignment with key company departments.
Set and review pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness in the marketplace while ensuring profitability.
Closely monitor competitor pricing activities to ensure alignment with market conditions.
Scout and source innovative, high-quality product development opportunities.
Manage the product lifecycle from conceptualization through to execution, ensuring alignment with market needs.
Create and drive efficient processes by implementing new processes and advocating for change when necessary.
Maintain internal systems
Co-ordinate the buying cycle working closely with the wider Food team
Reporting as guided by the Senior Category Manager
Creating purchase orders
The Candidate should have the following:
Qualifications, experience & skills
Minimum 2 years in one of the following areas: Food on the Go / FMCG / Support Office experience
Experience in a Commercial team preferable – Trading / Buying / Marketing / Operations
High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software also essential (Excel, PPT)
Power BI or equivalent beneficial but not required
SAP experience advantageous
Proven ability to build strong relationships with all internal stakeholders
Energetic and enthusiastic with a desire to achieve success
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
Strong ownership of tasks
Takes new challenges and works to own initiative
