Chapter Leader - Director, Software Engineering.
As an FI Technology Chapter Leader, you blend deep knowledge of software engineering practices and strong engineering skills with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates.
You are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our customers.
In an agile structure you will collaborate with other leaders to establish engineering standards, best practices, influence strategic decisions and build solutions in your area.
You will directly manage a team of people who primarily work within autonomous squads yet report directly to you.
You are dedicated to helping them grow and develop in their knowledge area and ensure alignment on the how of the work they perform.
You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, mentor and develop a team across multi functional disciplines such as software engineering, test automation, systems analysis, and scrum mastery
Collaborate with other leaders to establish engineering standards and best practices, influence strategic decisions and build solutions in your area
Directly manage a team that primarily works within autonomous squads and ensure alignment on the how of the work performed
Drive continual growth of team members and their knowledge areas
Develop personal expertise to bring the latest thinking to empower others
The Expertise And Skills You Bring
10+ years experience in delivering software using agile development practices
Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams across multi functional disciplines such as software engineering, test automation, systems analysis, and scrum mastery
Experience identifying and hiring talent needs; and resource planning and talent allocation across large organisations
Proven knowledge and experience of engineering principles, patterns and practices and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with which you build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels of the organisation
Committed people leader capable of developing others to accelerate and achieve increased skill proficiency
Data-driven approach to decision making, in day-to-day leadership and strategic trade-off analyses
Strong technical proficiency with database technologies, large data platforms and OOP; previous software development experience in some of the following is highly desirable
Experience with database technologies, such as Snowflake , Oracle etc is essential
Experience in Object-Oriented Software development with Java and/or Python
Experience with Spark (Java or Scala), use of AWS EMR as the infrastructure for execution both an advantage
Experience in Cloud technologies (AWS), including Docker and EKS
Experience building scalable and robust ETL data flows

The Team
Fidelity Institutional Technology (FIT) supports our business partners to excel in their respective markets.
We strive to achieve this by meticulously crafting, building, and upkeeping the software, technological infrastructure and products within Fidelity's Institutional (FI) business units.
Embedded within FIT, is the Performance Measurement & Analysis (PMA) area, which is dedicated to the creation and support of performance measurement and analysis and performance reporting software for our investment products.
As a vital member of this dynamic team, your role within FI Technology will focus on providing technical and people leadership for team members in your chapter.
Location: Galway, County Galway, Ireland
Salary: €95,000.00-€120,000.00
