Location:Galway (Hybrid: 2 days remote / 3 days in office)Type:Full-time, PermanentReports To:Commercial Director / Head of CostSalary / Package:Competitive base + Bonus + PensionOpen To -Buildings or Infrastructure Experience (Aviation ,Rail, Roads, Utilities, Energy)Role OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced, strategic, and technically adept Senior Cost Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead cost control and commercial oversight across projects in the Western region.This role suits someone from a PQS or main contractor origin who is comfortable moving between consultancy style oversight and commercial delivery management.With hybrid flexibility (2 days remote), you'll be well positioned to support both head office and site teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead cost planning, budget setting, and forecasting across multiple live projects.Prepare tenders, issue bills of quantities, evaluate subcontractor submissions, and support procurement decisions.Manage variations, change orders, and claims processes, ensuring fair commercial outcomes.Monitor and report monthly cost versus budget performance, maintaining transparency across project teams.Support value engineering workshops to optimize cost-efficiency without compromising project integrity.Ensure contract administration and compliance with contract terms, including dealing with subcontractor financial issues.Mentor and guide junior QS / cost staff, promoting best practices and consistency.Liaise with design, project management, and client teams to resolve commercial and technical cost issues.Review and validate final accounts, close out financials, and prepare post-project cost reports.Contribute to commercial strategy, procurement policies, and cost control systems improvements.Ideal Candidate Profile8+ years' experience in quantity surveying or cost management roles, with exposure to PQS consultancy or main contractor settings.Proven experience in multi-project cost control, variation management, and contract administration.Strong technical grounding in construction, understanding materials, labor, and construction sequencing.Competence in cost reporting tools, spreadsheets, and QS software (e.g. CostX, BuildSoft, etc.).Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Detail-oriented, commercially aware, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or equivalent; professional chartered status preferred.Please get in touch by applying here, email me on or call me on
