Director Of Technology and Transformational Change Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports. The ethos of service provision is underpinned by our Vision, Mission, Core Values and Strategic Plan, which is to empower people with disabilities to live self-directed lives in an equal and inclusive society. Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.Role:The Director of Technology and Transformational Change will be responsible for driving organisational transformation, overseeing strategic projects, and ensuring that change initiatives align with the organisations mission and values. This is a senior leadership role requiring a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on delivery, and strong people engagement skills. Key Responsibilities:Strategic LeadershipPartner with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the strategic goals of the organisation are underpinned by effective change and project delivery.Promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning across the organisation.Change ManagementDevelop and deliver change programmes that enhance organisational effectiveness, including systems transformation and process improvements.Apply best practices in change management to ensure high levels of staff engagement and minimal disruption to services.Support leadership and staff through change, ensuring transparent communication and capacity-building.Project LeadershipLead cross-functional, mission-critical projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.Establish project governance, tools, and methodologies .Monitor project performance and report regularly on these to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress and impact of project initiativesIdentify opportunities for process improvement and innovation, driving a culture of continuous learning and adaptationIdentify and mitigate risks associated with transformation initiatives, ensuring successful implementationUndertake trouble-shooting activities on projects as required by analysing the problem and putting in place the appropriate corrective action. Responsible for the transformation project management framework/methodology to ensure project principles are applied consistently across the organisation and provide training where requiredLead or review the outputs from post-project and programme reviews to look for opportunities to improve methods, training and guidanceOversee the development and modernisation of internal systems (HR, Finance, ICT, Compliance) to support efficient and person-centred service delivery.Drive digital transformation to improve transparency, reporting, and responsiveness across departmentsStakeholder EngagementEnsure that the people we supports' voices are considered in all major change and project initiatives.Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including relationships with the HSE, HIQA, funders, and advocacy organisations.Collaborate with other directors and senior managers to align functional and organisational priorities.Person SpecificationEssential:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, management). Professional qualification in change management or project delivery .Proven experience in a senior change management or transformation role, ideally in the charity, public, or not-for-profit sector.Proven experience in IT and procurement management.Demonstrated success leading complex projects with multiple stakeholders.Strong knowledge of project management methodologiesExcellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.Commitment to the values and mission of the organisation.Desirable:Senior leadership experience in change or transformation, ideally in the disability, health, or social care sector.Demonstrated understanding of the Irish disability landscape, including statutory frameworks, regulatory bodies, and current reforms.Proven experience in managing corporate services or major infrastructure projects.Excellent project and people management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire.High emotional intelligence and a commitment to inclusive leadership.Experience working directly with people with disabilities or lived experience of disability.Knowledge of HIQA standards, Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act, and HSE operational processes.Essential Competencies: Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term transformation strategies. Change Management Expertise: Proven experience in leading and managing organisational change initiatives. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Project Management: Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify problems, and develop effective solutions. Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of transformation professionals. Business Acumen: Understanding of business operations, financial management, and performance measurement. Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to adapt to changing business needs and thrive in a dynamic environment.
