Role purpose

We are seeking a HR & Employer Relations Lead to support affiliated credit unions with expert advice and proactive initiatives. This role balances provision of advice on day-to-day matters with capability-building, policy development and sector insights. You will be a trusted advisor to credit union leaders, while also positioning ILCU as an influential voice in HR and employment relations across both ROI and NI.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear, pragmatic advice to credit unions on disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence management, recruitment, and other HR/ER issues.
  • Ensure timely responses and escalation via our Knowledge Hub and ticketing system.
  • Maintain and update model HR policies and templates for ROI and NI, with annual reviews.
  • Deliver webinars, HR Coffee Mornings and training events; present at sector forums and conferences.
  • Draft concise updates on legislative changes, explaining practical implications for credit unions.
  • Produce quarterly HR insight reports for ILCU leadership and affiliate members.
  • Build relationships with IBEC, CIPD and other relevant bodies to represent credit union interests.
  • Collaborate across ILCU services (Learning & Development, Compliance Connect, Legal) to join the dots and create value-add initiatives.
  • Explore partnerships (e.g., recruitment, mediation services) to extend sector support.
Success measures
  • 90% of advice queries acknowledged within 1 working day.
  • All HR policy resources reviewed and updated annually.
  • 8–10 training/webinar events per year with ≥4.5/5 participant satisfaction.
  • Quarterly HR trend reports delivered.
  • Evidence of HR insights feeding into training, compliance, and legal guidance.
Person specification

Essential

  • CIPD-qualified or equivalent
  • At least 5 years' experience in HR/ER advisory roles
  • Strong knowledge of ROI employment law; working knowledge of NI employment law
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex ER cases
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated successful delivery of training/webinars

Desirable

  • Experience in credit union or other financial services organisations
  • Familiarity with CRM/ticketing systems
Location

Dublin HQ with hybrid working. Some ROI/NI travel required.
