My client, a well-established civil engineering company based in Cavan, has an opening for an experienced contract manager to join their team.

The contract manager has overall responsibility for the coordination, management, and delivery of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed profitably, safely, on time, and to an acceptable standard whilst maintaining and promoting strong client relationships.

They will ensure the most effective and efficient utilisation of people and resources required for the duration of the project. The contract manager will be assigned to multiple live projects but will also be involved in the pre-construction stages of projects and post-construction issues that may arise after practical completion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Participate in the tendering process including input into the development of programmes, methodologies, quality submissions and playing an active role at post tender interviews.
  2. Ensure safety inspections are implemented and manage the health, safety and welfare responsibilities as detailed in the Company's Policy and in compliance with OHSAS 18001; establish and maintain a safe site for the full duration of the works.
  3. Responsible for all pre-construction management, including the formal discharge of pre-commencement planning conditions, obtaining relevant licences from Highways and Council Authorities. Ensure all Contract Documentation, Bonds, and insurances are in place prior to Project Commencement.
  4. Develop the Risk Register with mitigation measures identified and implemented during the various stages of the project; ensure the Construction team are appraised of both the risks and the mitigation measures.
  5. Develop contract programmes, construction programmes, and methodology with the assistance of the contract planner and communicate to site management.
  6. Develop and implement short-term programmes with key sub-contractors at various stages of the project.
  7. Assist the Site Team when required and liaise with high-level Sub-contractor management to ensure corrective actions are implemented when necessary if there are any problems with the progress or quality of the works.
  8. Issue appropriate contractual notifications to either Sub-Contractors or the Contract Administrator when the works are in delay or have the potential to be delayed. Record Subcontractor Pre-Start Meetings and attend subcontractor progress meetings when necessary.
  9. Complete the formal appointments of Temporary Works Coordinator, Temporary Works Designers, and Temporary Works Supervisors. Produce the subcontractor & Material Procurement Schedules and manage / track progress of procurement during the project.
  10. Gain a full understanding of the Employers Requirements, Contractors Proposals, detailed design and specification, and maintain full knowledge of these during the construction process. Ensure that the information is disseminated to the Team and the relevant contractors.
  11. Monitor the quality assurance/snagging system during the construction stage of the project and post-completion.
  12. The Contracts Manager will be the main point of contact for all post-completion issues, ensuring timely and efficient response to any defects or other matters raised by the Client after Practical Completion.
