Key responsibilities may include:
- Inspecting and auditing EPA-regulated facilities
- Analysing environmental data and contributing to national reporting
- Reviewing and processing authorisation applications (e.g. Industrial Emissions, Waste, GHG, VOCs, GMOs)
- Conducting Environmental Impact Assessments and appropriate assessments
- Enforcing environmental regulations across sectors such as industry, waste, water, and radiological protection
- Collaborating with stakeholders at both national and EU levels
- Developing technical guidance, training, and reports for stakeholders
General duties may include:
- Managing and developing high-performing teams
- Leading the delivery of office programmes, budgets, and contracts
- Preparing and presenting technical and regulatory information for diverse audiences
- Supporting cross-office initiatives and adhering to health and safety protocols
Candidates must have on or before 4:00pm on Thursday 28th August 2025:
1. An appropriate degree (NFQ Level 8) in Science or Engineering or a relevant post graduate qualification (NFQ Level 9).
2. A minimum of two years relevant work experience, preferably in a regulatory environment/role, including one or more of the following:
a. Demonstrated experience in the critical review and assessment of complex environmental technical reports and applications; or
b. Experience conducting environmental audits and inspections and/or enforcing licence conditions/regulations; or
c. Demonstrated experience of interpretation and implementation of relevant Irish & EU Environmental Legislation; or
d. Demonstrated experience in preparing technical reports, papers, guidance, data and or regulatory assessments.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical and/or environmental information in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences.
4. Proven track record delivering as part of a high-performance team and sharing technical knowledge and expertise.
5. Driving Licence - Applicants should at the date of applying hold a full valid Irish /EU licence, for Class B vehicles, or a licence acceptable to NDLS for transfer to full Irish licence.
