Amazon seeks a Payroll Leader to coordinate Payroll for Amazon employees in Germany. We are looking for a strong leader with excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will lead a team of individuals who process payroll for Amazon employees. The role is a fantastic opportunity for a leader who wants to innovate, to move away from traditional payroll solutions, to raise the bar for the payroll team, and to set the team up for success. This role is part of the EMEA Payroll Management Team.
It is critical to Amazon's ongoing success that we provide the highest service to our internal customer: Amazon employees. Our mission statement is "Pay Employees accurately and on time with the highest level of customer obsession and controllership, at the lowest cost to Amazon".
Other areas of responsibility include strategic planning, stakeholder management (HR, Employee Services, Treasury, Accounting, Mobility, Recruitment), monthly business reviews, in country expansions and M&A ownership, compliance and controllership readiness, and continuous improvement projects. You will have the opportunity to build the team and make a difference. You will lead and develop the team, including hiring, training and employee career development; you will have the accountability to establish priorities, to ensure adherence to existing policies and procedures, to achieve or exceed annual performance targets; and above all to create a great environment to work in.
Key responsibilities- To build, inspire, and motivate a team of payroll analysts, senior payroll analysts, operations managers, and the payroll vendor to constantly raise the bar
- To remove blockers for your team so they can provide the best internal customer service, including daily monitoring of key performance indicators
- To foster a culture in which it's ok to fail but it is rigorous with the learning journey to correct the path going forward
- To develop a payroll team which is scalable & flexible to meet the ever-changing company needs
- To liaise with key business partners and senior management (including directors and vice presidents) in order to align priorities and define best in class processes to serve Amazon's employees
- To manage a team to meet or exceed SLAs and KPIs
- Take ownership to ensure efficiency and execution of the internal controls over input and output data of the Payroll systems
- To anticipate employee needs and implement necessary procedures to reduce Amazon's employees' effort to get payroll services
- Customer oriented and ready to serve personality
- Experience managing a payroll team
- Used to work in a metrics/data driven organization
- Experience running operations with high volume of transactional inputs and outputs
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
- Ability to set priorities for the team
- A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
- Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills
- SOX compliance experience
- English language is a must, German language is advantage
- Deep knowledge of payroll and local legislation (Germany)
- MS Office knowledge - especially advanced MS Access and MS Excel Office (VBA, macros)
- Familiar with SAP, Peoplesoft, Workday, ADP software
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data to make fact-based decisions and drive
