Overview:

Our client is currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated engineer to work in the Platform Development Team.

They design and deliver new innovations to address the challenges posed by increased renewable generation in electrical grids. They have successfully developed proprietary technologies and Virtual Power Plants that place electricity customers at the core of the solution while helping balance the wider electricity grid.

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will work with the team to take technical ownership for the design and implementation of high-level feature requests which often span multiple components within the platform infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance applications.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  3. Optimize the stack and applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  4. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  5. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
  6. Implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  7. Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
  8. Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and provide feedback.
  9. Manage and optimize our AWS environment, including EKS for container orchestration.
  10. Work within an Agile development framework to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Essential Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of professional experience in full stack development.
  2. Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
  3. Experience with frameworks such as Vue and NestJS.
  4. Strong understanding of web development principles, including RESTful API design.
  5. Experience with GitLab for code management and CI/CD pipelines.
  6. Hands-on experience with AWS services, specifically EKS for managing Kubernetes clusters.
  7. Strong knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  8. Familiarity with microservices architecture and deployment.
  9. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  10. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  11. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  12. Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Desirable:

  1. Interest and experience in DevSecOps implementation & security best practices.
  2. Experience with implementing observability tools like OpenTelemetry & Grafana.
  3. Experience with additional AWS services such as RDS, S3, Elasticache, Athena, etc.
  4. Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  5. Experience with IoT technologies and protocols.
  6. Experience with other persistence layer technologies such as InfluxDB or Neo4j.
  7. Experience with MQTT messaging protocol.
