We are seeking a creative and strategic marketing and communications professional to cover maternity leave (approximately 12 months).

Job Title: Marketing and Communications Manager – Maternity Cover

Contract: Full-time, Specific Purpose Contract (Approx 12 months)

Location: Rathmines/Hybrid

Report to: Director of Marketing and Communications

The Irish Heart Foundation is committed to protecting cardiovascular health across Ireland. Our work includes:

  • Caring for and advocating for people with heart conditions and stroke
  • Leading health promotion and prevention initiatives
  • Building a nation of lifesavers through CPR training
  • Campaigning for supportive policies
  • Providing information to the public

With approximately 120 employees and over 100 volunteers, we aim for a future where preventable heart disease is eliminated.

The role

Join us to shape, develop, and manage our communications and marketing efforts, driving innovative campaigns and strategies. This role requires a self-starter with strong project management and proven marketing experience, passionate about our mission.

Our department handles media, PR, brand management, advertising, internal communications, events, and report publication. You will work closely with various teams to ensure cohesive and high-standard campaigns that support our strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in devising and implementing marketing and communications strategies aligned with our mission
  • Develop frameworks to measure and evaluate campaign impact
  • Manage daily department operations, including people management
  • Plan and execute PR and media campaigns, liaising with media contacts and agencies
  • Ensure brand consistency across all materials and communications
  • Lead project management of campaigns, including post-campaign analysis
  • Manage external relationships with agencies, media, and stakeholders
  • Gather and share real-life stories to showcase our work
  • Prepare reports and ensure GDPR compliance in data management
  • Represent the Foundation externally and deputise for senior staff as needed

Skills and experience required

  • Minimum 5 years in marketing and communications, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Experience in PR and offline marketing campaigns
  • Strong creative, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent relationship management and presentation skills

The ideal candidate will

  • Be personable, compassionate, and a strong communicator
  • Show initiative and work well independently and collaboratively
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Manage deadlines effectively in a busy environment
  • Be a team player

The role requires flexibility for event attendance outside standard hours and other duties as assigned.
