  • The Unscheduled Care Lead will provide strategic and operational support to the Senior Management Team and Clinical Directorates at Naas General Hospital, focusing on unscheduled care quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Lead ongoing improvement of unscheduled care pathways and performance, including urgent and emergency care services; develop and implement robust performance monitoring systems.
  • Track, analyse, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with HSE targets (e.g., ED wait times, breaches, and 75+ wait times) and present data at Operations and Senior Management meetings.
  • Work to optimise patient flow from ED triage through admission, discharge, or transfer, with emphasis on early identification and prioritisation of patients aged 75 and over in line with national recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduled Care Manager, Patient Flow ADON, Operations Manager, ED clinical lead, CNM 3, IPC, and other stakeholders to supervise bed management and reduce delayed discharges and length of stay, especially for older persons.
  • Plan weekends and bank holidays, engaging stakeholders to ensure capacity, resourcing, and escalation arrangements to manage demand and reduce risk during periods of ED pressure.
  • Champion safe, timely access to care and effective transitions, focusing on vulnerable patients with long ED stays.
