Position: Social Care Worker
Location: Family Hub, Drumcondra
Work Schedule: Full Time 38.5 hours per week, 7 day rota (including evenings and weekends)
Contract: Full Time Permanent
Salary: €32,574 - €45,795 DOE
Reporting to: Manager / Deputy Manager
Responsibilities
- Provide a 24-hour short-term residential service to adult men, women and families experiencing homelessness, with the aim of helping residents secure a long-term home and ensuring supports and personal attributes required to sustain their home are in place. Deliver the highest standard of care and work with colleagues in care planning and case management in line with the DRHE Pathways Model.
- Work in challenging environments and adopt an inclusive approach with people who have complex issues; implement the case management system and engage in one-to-one work with a specified caseload from referral to move-on.
- Carry out initial assessment, identify housing supports and additional supports, update the PASS System, advocate on behalf of families, arrange meetings, and link families to appropriate services to assist each family in finding a long-term home.
- Liaise closely with the Housing Case Working team and family link worker to ensure effective communication and support families to re-engage with local communities.
- Build professional, trusting relationships with each family, treating them with dignity and respect, and working within Crosscare values.
- Carry out duties connected with the operation of the family hub, including handling conflicts, responding to health issues, premises management, taking referrals, and welcoming and engaging with families.
- Follow reporting policies and procedures regarding Child Protection concerns.
- Liaise with and advocate to external and internal service providers to support families.
- Work effectively as part of a team and be open to reasonable requests from the manager/care coordinator to ensure effective working relationships and prompt responses to families.
- Lead on an area of the support programme currently in place in the Family Hub.
- Work within Crosscare policies and the project's standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to the quality agenda to ensure the consistent delivery of service and adherence to quality standards.
- Perform all administrative duties related to the role to ensure smooth project operation.
- Observe Health and Safety policies and participate in continual quality improvement to maintain building security day and night.
- Be open to reasonable requests from the facilities coordinator to maintain high Health & Safety standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum BA in Applied Social Care, Addiction, Mental Health, Nursing, Psychology (or equivalent) at Level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) QQI.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant employment with a similar client group.
- Child Protection Training.
Experience
- External candidates: a minimum of 1 year working in homelessness and housing.
- Internal candidates: a minimum of 6 months relevant employment within Crosscare homeless services.
Desirable
- Awareness of issues facing residents/families moving into independent tenancy.
- Experience managing complex and challenging situations in a client-based service.
- Knowledge of Children's First and Child Protection.
Personal Skills
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on a roster that includes evenings and weekends in a residential setting.
