Overview

Support Service Coordinator - Cork. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and advocating for the rights of people affected by dementia to quality supports and services. Our vision is an Ireland where people affected by dementia are valued and supported. The ASI is a national non-profit organisation, person-centred, rights-based and grassroots led with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core. We are recruiting for a Support Service Coordinator for St. Fachtna\'s Centre, Casement Park, Clonakilty, Co. Cork. P85V327 who will report to the Operations Manager. This is a permanent contract working 4 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide information, support, and signposting for and alongside people with dementia, their carers and families, local communities and public.
  • Act as an introductory point of contact for people with dementia, carers, families and community representatives who are contacting ASI for the first time.
  • Build trusting relationships with all stakeholders to make them feel secure and welcome in the service.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all attendees.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the support and activity group in line with ASI guidelines.
  • Ensure sufficient quantity and range of service literature is available and accessible for all attendees.
  • Adhere to service provision guidelines and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in promoting a positive and safe environment for all attendees; ensure the room/facility is set up and ready for service.
  • Adopt a person-centred approach at all times and ensure staff/volunteers do likewise.
  • Induct volunteers in line with the volunteer policy.
  • Maintain a register of all attendees; supervise staff/volunteers and delegate duties as required.
  • Return detailed attendance figures to help establish service demands.
  • Lodge donations received from attendees into the designated bank account.
  • Maintain all required record systems relating to management of the service; provide records to National Office and Service Manager as required.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of Society policies and procedures and compliance with GDPR.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients, carers/advocates and attendees.
  • Escalate any health and safety issues or safeguarding concerns as required; report issues, queries, and concerns to line manager.
  • Be flexible and adapt to additional responsibilities as required; any regular additions will be reflected in the job description.
Job Holder Requirements (Knowledge & Related Experience)
  • Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in a similar role; experience in health, social or disability care.
  • Experience of working with people living with dementia.
  • QQI Level 5 is desirable but not essential; training in dementia, care of elderly or related area is an advantage.
  • Good planning, time management and organisational skills; strong computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong organisational and prioritisation skills; accuracy and attention to detail; conscientious approach to work; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Details

  • Hours: 4 hours per week; permanent contract
  • Salary: commensurate with the care sector, dependent on relevant experience
  • Reports to: Operations Manager
