Job Title: Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Athlone

Job Type: Contract (12 months, with up to two possible 12-month extensions)

Work Type: Hybrid (3 days weekly onsite, 8 hours/day Monday to Friday)

Overview of Role

Our Client requires the services of a Senior Oracle Database Administrator with extensive experience in managing and supporting Oracle environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, administration, and enhancement of existing Oracle-based systems.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day database administration, monitoring, and performance tuning of Oracle 12c environments.
  • Management and support of Oracle Forms and Reports and WebLogic Server, including deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Support and maintenance of Hyperion SQR reporting infrastructure.
  • Implementation and monitoring of robust backup and recovery procedures, including RMAN, Data Guard and Data Pump utilities.
  • Contribution to the enhancement and optimization of current systems to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • AIX system administration tasks related to the Oracle environment, including patching and resource management.
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Provision of documentation and knowledge transfer to internal IT staff, where required

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in similar roles
  • Experience in the upgrade and installation of Oracle software with specific knowledge of upgrading from Oracle 12c to Oracle 19c
  • Experience in RMAN backup, disaster recovery & AIX admin.
  • Troubleshooting & performance tuning

Education & Certifications:

  • Oracle Certified in Database at Professional Level or above.
  • English language proficiency: Fluency in English required; C2 certification needed if not a native speaker
  • Visa: Irish/EU Citizen or Stamp 4 Visa holder
