Overview

Senior Instructor, Tralee Day Services (37.5 hours per week).

As a Section 39 organisation, KPFA operates its own pay scales. Annual increments are awarded up to the maximum point of the relevant scale.

Location: Tralee Day Services. Roster: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00.

Responsibilities
  • The core activities for the post of Senior Instructor will be to enable the people we support realise their goals and achieve their identified priorities.
  • The successful candidate will provide support and act as an advocate for participation and inclusion in the Community on behalf of the person we support.
  • The successful candidate will operate within a framework of a person-centred approach and will actively engage with and promote cooperation and partnership with other services, both internally and externally and in particular with families.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete all relevant reports and training. They will incorporate and implement New Directions in line with National standards for day services. The Senior Instructor in this supervisory role will provide physical support which may include personal care, providing emotional support for individuals and their families, supporting health care needs, teaching life skills whilst working with other healthcare providers to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
Essential Criteria
  • Applicants should possess a relevant 3rd level qualification (Minimum Level 7 Degree).
  • A minimum of three years' experience of supporting adults with an intellectual disability post qualification.
  • A passion for promoting and empowering those you support.
  • A strong understanding of New Directions, the Disability Act 2005, Health & Safety legislation, as well as Data Protection and GDPR compliance.
  • Excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with individuals, families, colleagues, managers, and senior team members.
  • Ability to document and report accurately and professionally.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and document daily activities and individualised care plans.
  • Ability to maintain accurate digital records and complete reports in compliance with GDPR.
  • Strong time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • A deep understanding of rights-based and person-centred approaches to support and advocacy.
  • Applicants must have the necessary authorisation to work in Ireland and will be asked to provide supporting documentation during the recruitment process.
  • A full driver's licence with access to a road-worthy car insured for business purposes (Must be willing to drive Association vehicles).

  • A panel may be formed from which future vacancies for the Tralee Day Services may be filled up to the 31st of December 2025.
  • Evidence of relevant employment experience must be clearly detailed in both your application form and CV. Failure to provide this information, along with a satisfactorily completed verification of service form before an agreed start date, will result in placement at Point 1 of the applicable scale. Incremental credit will only be applied from the date correct documents are submitted.
