Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine laboratory testing and sampling
  • Verify cleaning using microbiological swabbing
  • Carry out microbiological testing and Trichinella testing
  • Monitor carcass quality
  • Communicate with and report to customer requests for technical information
  • Maintain and update laboratory procedures manual
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed and results are actioned where required
  • Review results records weekly, ensuring accuracy and proper sign-off
  • Generate weekly reports for QA Manager and Veterinary Inspector
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and legislation, liaising with DAFF and DAFM officials
  • Manage corrective and preventative actions, non-conforming products, and adherence to customer specifications
  • Implement and maintain HACCP and hygiene requirements
  • Review product and process development
  • Manage sanitation and cleaning procedures
  • Assist in managing the food safety and quality management system
  • Maintain standards such as BRC, Bord Bia MPQAS, and retailer/customer standards for third-party accreditation
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the company and QA manager
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Relevant qualification in Science or Agriculture
  • At least 2 years' experience in QA within a food factory environment
  • Teamwork, attention to detail, communication skills, laboratory experience, and knowledge of quality assurance
