Overview

Workshop Production Manager at BMD & Co Ltd. Location: Dublin, Ireland.

The role is to lead the fabrication team to ensure the effective planning and completion of the fabrication and assembly works in accordance with project specifications and schedule requirements, including materials management, Clean, Plastics and High Purity pipework fabrication and skid or PED assembly, with delivery to site and coordination of activities in line with the project schedule. The works must be delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards, ensuring timely delivery to the site in accordance with the projected installation plan.

Responsibilities
  • Safety: compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS); ensure safety documents are in place (Site Safety Statement, RAMS, SOPs, STAR); liaise with Safety representatives; complete toolbox talks, inductions, and training coordination.
  • Environmental: ensure facility compliance with Environmental Management System (EMS); waste management – segregation and disposal; support energy management/optimisation initiatives.
  • Quality: compliance with Company Quality Management System (QMS); adherence to contract-specific quality plans and ITPs; ensure incoming inspection of materials, verify certification and heat numbers; manage RFIs; maintain quality outputs to contractual requirements; establish KPIs; conduct audits and host customer/3rd party audits; ensure welding procedures and welder qualifications are current; ensure fabrication traceability; issue isometrics and drawings to the workshop floor and ensure traceability; record welds daily and address non-conformances timely.
  • Planning: hold weekly coordination meetings; develop fabrication priority plans; implement plans with the workshop team; regularly review workforce activity for efficiency; ensure walkthroughs of fabricated/assembled items on completion; ensure proper tagging, labelling, and shipping documentation; coordinate all outgoing shipments with sites and communicate plans and progress to all resources.
  • People: resource planning including staff and holidays; ensure timesheets are completed weekly; day-to-day craft management via line supervision; oversee hiring and staff management; coordinate craft requirements with Craft Management.
  • Facilities: ensure consumables are stocked; oversee annual building certifications (e.g., lift shaft, intruder alarm, security cameras, fire protection, clean room and AC validation); support building maintenance; maintain building security and access control; keep the facility clean and ensure accurate tagging/labeling and packaging records where needed.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Navisworks or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years relevant workshop experience (preferably in process industry piping and stainless steel fabrication)
  • Experience in tool installation project work is advantageous
