Overview

Senior Design Engineer – REF: 2517b at Fingleton White.

Fingleton White provides multidiscipline engineering services for the energy industry, including Renewables, Gas Networks, Water, Energy & Utilities, and Asset Management. We design, construct and commission projects across Ireland, Northern Ireland and England with 7 offices and over 200 staff.

Fingleton White is CPD Accredited with Engineers Ireland. We support chartership through CPD and mentoring and provide targeted training and experience relevant to your grade.

The Role

The Senior Design Engineer will join our Energy, Utilities and Renewables design team. This is a client-facing role with opportunities to lead high-value, high-complexity projects as your career progresses. Location: Cork (primary) with consideration for Galway.

Responsibilities
  • Design & project management from conceptual phase through to project completion in the Energy and Utilities sectors, including renewables (biogas, biomass, CHP, solar, hydro, industrial utilities), pipelines and installations (gas, oil, water, or wastewater).
  • Development of preliminary and detailed design calculations.
  • Development of design drawings and specifications.
  • Development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reports.
  • Balance of plant design.
  • Design and implementation of energy-saving projects.
  • Industrial utilities design, HVAC, steam, refrigeration & compressed air systems.
  • Attend and participate in HAZID/HAZOP and LOPA studies.
  • Carry out PSDP role.
Requirements
  • Mechanical engineering degree (Honors bachelor's degree or higher) or a similar discipline relevant to the specification.
  • 7+ years post-graduate design experience. CEng would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good academic record.
  • Full clean driving license and own transport.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
