  • Responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization. Leads a small team and directs EPRI Europe employees, independent contractors, and business partners to ensure proper compliance with group and business practices and policies.
  • Manage daily activities and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing procedures for several international entities, Ensuring proper general ledger accounting, bank / cash reconciliations, cash planning & intercompany chargeback transactions compliant with the Transfer Pricing Service Agreements.
  • Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts. Review the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Examine and process invoices from vendors and contractors and reconcile vendor accounts and payments.
  • Oversee and manage monthly payroll cycles for several European entities. Work closely with Company’s external payroll partners to ensure compliance with local requirements. Ensure accuracy of payroll data recorded in company financial system.
  • Ensure accurate and timely compliance and reporting to support the growth of our public research grant agreements business. With a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, advise internal stakeholders on the proper accounting treatment of costs and revenues and the application of US GAAP and IFRS accounting guidelines.
  • Prepare financial reports and presentations supporting the divisions and sectors of the US parent company EPRI.
  • Supervise the annual external international audits as well as periodic internal audits, including the preparation of PBC schedules. Review the work papers of others.
  • Partner with management and colleagues from EPRI companies in constructing the annual forecast and operating budget plan of revenues, funding, expenses, and capital projects.
  • Prepare and maintain analysis of exchange rates for financial planning. Establish procedures related to revaluation of foreign currency balances, conversion of non-EUR currencies and related adjustments.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the growth strategy for EPRI Europe.
  • Manage the accurate reporting of the international aspects of corporate income tax and VAT returns in various countries. Work with Company’s external accounting and tax partners to ensure compliance with local requirements.
  • Assist in implementing essential measures for intercompany transfer pricing, prepare transfer pricing calculations, and provide support for the internationally mandated Transfer Pricing Studies pertaining to EPRI Europe branches.
  • In close cooperation with legal, finance, human resources, and IT teams, support the creation and establishment of new branch offices.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve problems, including information systems and reports enhancements and lead system or process improvement initiatives in collaboration with legal, finance, IT, and other EPRI business partners as needed.
  • Recognize areas of risk or non-compliance and take responsibility for achieving resolutions eg. FCPA and Data Protection.
  • Supervise EPRI Europe accountants, providing coaching, training, and continual performance management. Utilize effective and suitable supervision and management methodologies to enhance employee morale and effectiveness to their fullest potential.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Promote continuous process improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Require bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Chartered Accountant, MBA or equivalent desirable.
  • Require 10+ years’ experience in practical international accounting, financial analysis, budgeting processes, and European employment law.
  • Minimum 3 years‘ working experience in SAP ERP FI accounting modules (GL, AP, AR).
  • Experience completing Irish and group audit.
  • 3 or more years experience managing a team of direct reports

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of common financial concepts, project accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Quick adaptation to EPRI Europe’s business model and operations.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and USGAAP and familiarity with International GAAP differences, and capable of independently researching and interpreting accounting guidelines.
  • Proficient in using the entire Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Adobe PDF.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities and open to an international business atmosphere.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and thrive under pressure.
  • Strong coaching and development skills including delegation.
  • Independent hands-on mentality and effective work ethic to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient at identifying root causes and addressing process roadblocks.
  • High motivation for top performance, reliability, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in foreign language(s) desirable.
